Zack’s Crib Crisis Centre Safe Bed Operations and Services Provided Zack’s Crib Crisis Centre’s strategic pause wrapped up at the beginning of November 2024. Nightly Safe Bed Operations re-opened with a new earlier intake time. Zack’s Crib provides inclusive, gender-neutral supports for all persons aged 18 and over - all adults who need a safe bed for the night can stay at Zack’s Crib on a first-come-first-serve basis. Individuals who are over the age of eighteen, who do not have a place to stay for the night, and who do not present an immediate or high level of risk of safety are welcome. Intake to a Safe Beds can occur at anytime throughout the night, providing a bed is available. Lockers are available for individuals to securely store their items during their stay. Dinner and breakfast are prepared and served by staff. Showers and hygiene supplies are available. Safe Bed operations are open 7 nights a week, 8:30pm – 7:30am.
Housing First supports continue to be available during the weekdays where a worker can meet with individuals to assist with advocacy, goal setting, planning, provide referrals / connection to community resources and to work towards obtaining safe and secure housing. Zack’s Crib also follow-ups with folks who are recently re-housed, increasing the likelihood of sustaining their new housing and decreasing the likelihood of eviction.
